Inspired by 1990s menswear tailoring and the negative space of the lookbook shot at the Tottori sand dunes. Structured shoulder pads, hand-felled lapels and a relaxed dropped shoulder. The cloth is woven from wool milled by Nishiki Textiles in Bishu (Ichinomiya, Aichi). Rensuke Aoki was born in 1985 in Kanazawa, Ishikawa. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College in 2008, he spent seven years apprenticing at Anderson & Sheppard, the storied Savile Row tailor in London, where he mastered bespoke construction. He returned to Japan in 2016, worked as a freelance tailor, and joined SAELA as chief tailor in 2021. Known for tailoring that combines a structured shoulder with a soft drape, his philosophy is 'clothes that hold their shape yet move with the body.' He received the British Menswear Tailoring Award in 2019. Misaki Tanaka is a Tokyo-based stylist working on magazine editorials and brand lookbooks.
